"The Walker River Paiute Tribe extends an invitation to the public to join in festivities at the Annual Pinenut Festival from September 17-20, 2009.
The Tribe hosts the Annual Pine-nut Blessing on the third weekend in September of each year. The Blessing features the best singers and beautiful songs for the Pine-nut Blessing Ceremony. This is a time honored event when Tribal members come home and Indian people from many nations come to partake in the blessed event.
The Pinenut Festival begins September 17, 2009 with the Miss Walker River and the Lil' Miss Pinenut Festival Pageant. Opening Ceremonies will be held at the Walker River Paiute Tribes' Community Center.
For those who are traveling from other areas we have camping available and will be opening our Tribal Gymnasium for those who need showering facilities.
There is a full weekend of activities for everyone. The Festival will include a Talent Show, Pow Wow, Fun Run, Kid's Games, Indian Car Contest and Parade, Horseshoe Contests, Arm Wrestling, Stick Games, Cradleboard Contest, and an All Indian Rodeo. As a part of the weekend activities we are also including a Free BAR-B-QUE.
The Traditional Pinenut Blessing and Dance will be held on September 19, 2009 at 8:00 pm.
