Custom Gardens 2010 - local food program update

My mailbox is overflowing with 2010 local food updates.  What's really exciting this year are the 21st century and increased consumer convenience options our local farmers are incorporating into their operations. Like this one....Custom Gardens is offering EZ payments plans and opening earlier this year.

From my mailbox to you:
Custom Gardens (NV Certified) Organic Farm and CSA in Silver Springs. This is the beginning of the new year 2010.

What's up? We are tending limited crops in our hoop-houses, and making plans for a great season, ahead. We have been offering our EZ Payment Plan sign up since last fall. A "lay-away" program as a way for people to get their CSA reservation secured for 2010 with a deposit and monthly payments through March 2010.

We will again offer two rates the lowest for those groups or individuals who pick up at the farm, here in Silver Springs. And, for an additional amount, we will again deliver summer CSA produce from our farm, once a week, to our popular central delivery point at the NV Dept. of Agriculture offices in Sparks NV.

Our Brochure with more detailed information is ready to go, either by "snail mail" or Email. Just contact us at 775-577-2069, or drop us an email at our new E-address.

Though later than expected, we are now almost ready to post new information on our website: (also new)Look for the new look in January!

Speaking of Summer, we are planning on an earlier opening date (May) for our on-farm Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM Green-Market, and we are planning for another ethnic kitchen garden this year.

Thanks, from Ray and Virginia, the farmers at Custom Gardens Organic Farm -- home to our own Nevada/Hawaiian certified organic yellow Ginger.

Visitors are welcomed to visit, almost anytime, by appointment.

Hi- I just found your blog! I live in Hawthorne & I'm trying to find a source for sharing a cow for raw milk. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I haven't heard about cow-share programs in Hawthorne but I'll keep an ear out and let you know if I do. Just so you know, access to raw milk is on many Nevadan's wish list but is unlikely to happen unless local laws change.

Good luck!
